Beach Photo Frame

Before
After

Here is the photo frame I made for my Hubby for Father's Day. He loves to surf and lucky for us we live about 10 min from the beach :) Our last trip to the beach I got some very cute shots of him with our daughter  , so I thought a nice frame to put then in would make a nice Father's Day present.
I started with a plain wooden frame I had bought from Michael's ages ago so I'm not sure what I paid for it but I think it was only a dollar or two. And I used the "Endless Summer" stack and "Mango Frost" stack from DCWV for most of the cuts.  I used my "Life's a Beach" cartridge for the surf boards and waves and for the wording  I used the "Cricut Font and Basic Shapes"
Thanks for taking a peek! I love hearing your comments!

Dino-mite Father's Day card

Yup another Father's day card! This is one I made for my Dad from my daughter (she calls him "Papa"). I am so happy with how it turned out!! It was really hard to get a good picture because all the folds/layers, so I took several, lol! I used the SCS tri-fold card tutorial, found here but I changed the dimensions on the side to 1.5" since I was only putting the skinny palm tree on it and I knew the volcano was going to be pretty wide.
Here's the recipe:

Papers: Sorry I used scraps again and the only patterned paper I used was for the volcano.

Cuttlebug folders: "herringbone" for the palm tree leaves and  "circles" for the dino skin

Cricut cartridges:
Create-A-Critter (of course!)
TRex- cut @ 3.5"
palm tree- cut @ 3.5"
"Dino-Mite"- cut @ 2.5"
volcano- cut @ 3"

Just Because Cards
"you're RAD"- cut @ 3.75" (cut off the "RAD")

Plantin Schoolbook
"Papa" - cut @ .68" and welded together

I love the way the white pen accents came out. It really helped the eyes pop since the colors were so dark! Thanks for checking in! Leave a comment I'd love to hear from you!

Turtle Father's Day card

I LOVE how this card turned out! My husband just loves the way our 16 month old daughter says the word "turtle" and asks her to say it all the time so I thought it would be the prefect theme for a father's day card for him! I used my all-time favorite cartridge Create-A-Critter for the turtles, clouds and speech bubble, and I used my new cartridge Wild Cards 2 to make the card and the grass. I hope he likes it but I'm pretty sure I don't have much to worry about there!
Recipe:
Papers- I mostly just used scraps I had so I'm not sure where I got them

CAC-
  • Daddy turtle cut at 1.5"
  • Baby turtle cut at 1"
  • bow cut at 1.5"
  • speech bubble cut at 2"
  • clouds cut at 1" and 1.4"
WC2-
  • "grass card" (pg 33) cut at 4.3"
  • grass cut at 4.3"

Happy Turkey Day Card

This week challenge over at FCCB is using the colors red, orange and brown in a Fall project. And the Cricut Cardz Challenge #95 was to make a Thanksgiving card using the card feature from any cricut cartridge. So for the card I used Damask Decor for the card base (that cart has an awesome card feature!) and the turkey and "gobble gobble" are from Create a Critter (my absolute all time most favorite cartridge ever!) Anyway, enjoy and have an awesome Thanksgiving!!

Thanksgiving Cards

Thanksgiving has become such a neglected holiday! It seems like everyone goes straight from Halloween to Christmas these days. Well I for one have many many tings to be thankful, like the precious angel sitting on my lap right now as I type this :) and I plan to celebrate Thanksgiving to the fullest! Here is a  Thanksgiving card I made for this year. The card features leaf cuts from the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge (an oldie but goodie) and the rosette was made with a Martha Stewart edge punch and a 2 1/2" x 11" strip of paper folded accordion style every 1/4". Then you just connect the ends, push down the center, and viola: rosette!

Birdie Wedding Card

I am so happy with how this card turned out! I made it for my friends wedding and it also works for the weekly challenge over at FCCB. This week was "for the birds" themed :) Anyway, I used Birthday Bash for the card base cut at 8" (Love that cart, it has some very cute card shapes in it!) and the birds, nest and " Bless this Nest" saying are from the Sweethearts cartridge. The shape behind the saying is a nestabilities die. And I added a veil to the birdie bride with some wired ribbon I had. I pulled the wire out of the bottom and them used the wire at the top to gather it. I know it's kinda hard to see in the picture but the background, leaves and nest are embossed, to add some more texture :) The picture just doesn't do it justice at all! :)

Hello Kitty Halloween Card

Wow I can't believe it's been a year since I added anything to my blog! I promise I will try to keep it updated better! But a lot has happened this year, like I became a MOM! YAY! (which explains neglecting my blog!) Anyway our little girl is adopted and we have send updates every month to the birth parents so I decided I was only going to send them handmade cards! Since this month is Halloween, I decided to send them a Halloween card.

I used my Hello Kitty Greetings cartridge for the wording and the graphics. The card is 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 the cuts are:
  • "Happy Halloween" - 1 3/4"
  • Hello Kitty - 5"
  • pumpkin (front)- 1 1/2"
  • bat (inside) - 2"
  • pumpkin (inside) - 2"
